The Ernest Cook Trust encourages public access to the estates through a network of permissive and statutory footpaths. The hope is that walkers will enjoy the pleasures of the open countryside, while respecting the needs of the wildlife for quiet and privacy. People are therefore asked to keep to the waymarked paths and to avoid the field margins which have been deliberately left to encourage wild flowers and small animals. There might be times when the permissive paths need to be closed and this will always be made clear. As ever, the public are asked to remember the country code and leave gates as they find them, take litter home (and leave radios there!) and keep dogs on a leash.
The Trust is working to produce localised maps for each of the estates. Currently, these are available for the Trent and Fairford Estates, and can be viewed on this website from the links below.
A printed version of the Fairford map is available from the Coln Gallery, High Street, Fairford and both maps are available, for a small charge, at the respective post offices in Fairford and Trent.
